The 2005 Escape is a compact car offered in four different trim levels – the XLS is the only model to come standard with a five-speed manual, while the XLT, XLT Sport and Limited models round out the line-up with a four-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is a 2.3-liter inline four-cylinder that produces 153 horsepower, or the 3.0-liter V6 that generates 200 horsepower (standard equipment on the Limited model). All trim levels are available in either front-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive configuration. There’s also a Hybrid version of the Escape that features a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine featuring 155 horsepower with an EPA rating of 36 City/31 Highway MPG.
